MOLDAVITE10 - Tektite var. Moldavite
$ 239.00 (=~ ¥ 35280.82) SOLD NET
Bezednice, Maldau River Valley, Czech Republic
miniature - 4.5 x 3.5 x 1.2 cm

This is as good a piece of Moldavite as money can buy. This is from the rarest location: Bezednice. It is known for the "snowflake" look of the pieces. The leading theory suggest this is due to a higher acidic level in the soil (that etched away the glass over millions of years more than the other locations nearby). This piece is absoutely pristine and damage free (hard to find from any location). The color is classic green, highly transparent. The last two pics shows the transparent color with a back light. It weighs exactly 10 grams, which is heavy for this location.

Moldavite is a green tektite. A tektite is an impact glass, created due to the impact of a meteorite with the earth's crust. It is believed that the meteorite that created the Ries Kessel (a massive 15 mile diameter crater), 120 miles away in Germany "splashed," hot material into the atmosphere that cooled as it fell back to Earth. This impact material, landed across a relatively small (10 to 15 square mile) area in the current Czech Republic. This impact event is dated around 15 million years ago. Moldavite miners must dig holes to access this old layer in which the Moldavite is found. Moldavite is typically quite small, with the largest pieces generally available, weighing between 30 to 50 grams (up to 6-7 cm long). Moldavite is valued for its size (larger pieces are much rarer), condition (lack of damage), an attractive green color, and how textured, or "spikey," the surface is.

ESQUEL2 - Meteorite Var. Esquel Pallasite
$ 65.00 (=~ ¥ 9595.20) SOLD NET
Esquel, Argentina
thumbnail - 1.7 x 1.5 x .2 cm

This variety of Meteorite is called a pallasite. It is the kind that has olivine crystals embedded inside a nickel iron or stony iron matrix. This slice is from a meteorite that fell in 1951 in Esquel Argentina. It is considered one of the most stable, high quality pallasites, and is quite sought after because of that. This piece is almost completely olivine. Although small, it is pretty mind blowing to imagine this came from the core of a rare asteroid.

This piece is a fine example with highly reflective nickel iron and golden yellow olivine patches. There are two micro chips out of two perimeter olivines on the lower right side of the back of the slice (second pic). This is common and due to the slicing process.

QUARTZ55 - Quartz Var. Amethyst with Hematite incls.
$ 175.00 (=~ ¥ 25833.24) SOLD
Goboboseb Mtns. Brandberg Dist. Erongo Region, Namibia
small cabinet - 6.9 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm

Crystals from this area are often misidentified as being from "Brandberg, Namibia," which is actually a deposit within a nature preserve in the same district. The Goboboseb mountains, in the Erongo region from which this cluster was found, is know for its remoteness, as the nearest water source is over 35 kilometers away. The host basalt has been dated to over 200 million years old. I have discussed this with geologists, who have theorized that Quartz crystals from the Goboboseb mountains have probably been crystallized for the length of that time!

This piece has great color. The two largest crystals are double terminated wtih sparkly orange needles of hematite along the edges. great condiition, one wilbur-aized chip out of a minor crystal.

Goboboseb Mtns. Brandberg Dist. Erongo Region, Namibia
small cabinet - 6 x 2.7 x 2.0 cm

This piece has a very rich purple color that is highly sought after from this location. The crystals are transparent, with small needles of hematite. There is one small bubble that moves, and another that has blown out (tiny little crater -- commonly seen from here). It is unusual that one face of the termination has distinct triangular screw distortions (AKA Record keepers for the metaphysical crowd), these are hardly ever seen from this location. Both crystals are double terminated. no damage.

$ 125.00 (=~ ¥ 18452.31) SOLD
Goboboseb Mtns. Brandberg Dist. Erongo Region, Namibia
miniature - 4.5 x 1.75 x 1.75 cm

This bright transparent Quartz has purple-zoned phantoms, and a rare combo of prehnite with Anlacime on the front face of the termination (it looks like a comet with the tail). There is also analcime on the side near the bottom of the main shaft. There is one small chip on the side, otherwise nothing else. This is a very unusual example from this location.

This piece is totally pristine with no damage (unusual), it weighs 23.86 grams. It has a pleasant curve to it (pictured), and outstanding emerald green color. Great surface texture, this was one of the best of a recent lot of large moldavites I acquired, outstanding overall.

CREEDITE3 - Creedite
$ 4950.00 (=~ ¥ 730711.58) SOLD NET
El Potosi Mine, Santa Eulalia District, Mun. de Aquiles Serdán, Chihuahua, Mexico
small cabinet - 6.8 x 5.7 x 3.75 cm

This hard-to-find specimen has outrageous color. In person, it is bright and so purple that 9 out of 10 people are certain it is amethyst at first glance. The color is a lilac-purple and the crystals range in size up to 2.0 cm. The piece has an aesthetic composition just the way it sits (and is pictured). There is one very small spot of a cleaved crystal (one of dozens on the piece), very hard to see. (double click an any pic to see the "microscopic," close-up.)

You can go a very long time and not see a purple creedite from Mexico. This is an excellent example, that we had priced at $6500, but are discounting exclusively for the web site!

$ 95.00 (=~ ¥ 14023.76) SOLD
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Quebec, Canada
thumbnail - 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.3 CM

THis purple and yellow Vesuvianite has a pleasant contrast of crystal size. The two large double terminated crystals are 2 cm long each. On the right side of the piece are small sharp, gemmy crystals. It looks good from all sides, comes mounted on an acryllic base. no damage. There is almost no production if any at all anymore at the Jeffrey Quarry.
