Quartz with Blue Fluorite inclusions (hand polished) from Miandrivazo Province, Madagascar [db_pics/pics/quartz8a.jpg] Quartz with Blue Fluorite inclusions (hand polished) from Miandrivazo Province, Madagascar [db_pics/pics/quartz8b.jpg] Quartz with Blue Fluorite inclusions (hand polished) from Miandrivazo Province, Madagascar [db_pics/pics/quartz8c.jpg]

QUARTZ8 - Quartz with Blue Fluorite inclusions (hand polished)
$ 85.00 (=~ £ 68.64) SOLD
Miandrivazo Province, Madagascar
miniature - 3.8 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm

This is an excellent double terminated example of the limited find of prismatic Quartz crystals with small blue Fluorite crystals included within them. These came from one pocket in Madagascar, and were not found again. All of the crystals were a frosty Quartz, such that polishing enabled a proper view of the unusual little blue fluorites floating inside. The Quartz is very clear, with the fluorites well positioned along two internal faces. No damage.

JEREMEJEVITE1 - Jeremejevite
$ 395.00 (=~ £ 318.98) SOLD
Erongo Mountains, Namibia
miniature - 3.6 x 1.4 x 1.4 cm

This pocket was mined in the last year in the Erongo mountains. This rare mineral is crystallized snugly within a "jacket," of (a new variety) of acicular green Tourmaline. It's in great shape, with no visible damage. The Jeremejevite appears to run the full length of the "tube," It may do that, however there is a white Kaolin-like clay packed inside it, so it's hard to tell if it's a continuous crystal or two separate ones, barely connected. Overall this is a neat piece, and a good example of this new find of Jeremejevite.

$ 55.00 (=~ £ 44.42) SOLD
Chia Mine, Sao Jose Da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
thumbnail - 3.0 x 1.2 x .7 cm

This crystal is one of the best from a stash we have put aside when we bought out Hawthorneden Inc. It has an amazing electric green color that is quite unusual for Hiddenite. It was found about 10 years ago, and saved due to its amazing color. No damage.

Muzo Mine, Muzo, Vasquez-Yacopí Mining District, Boyacá Department, Colombia
thumbnail - 1.1 x .8 x .6 cm

This emerald shows good color, and involves the crystallization of three crystals. It weighs 3.65 carats. There is a very slight "rubbed" back edge of the primary crystal, but it is not eye catching.

miniature - 3.5 x 2.0 x 1.2 cm

Gem Titanite known as Sphene, this example is in excellent condition. Sphene of this quality is typically found in Brazil, Pakistan, Madagascar, and the Alps. Good gemmy examples typically sell for hundreds of dollars.

CALCITE5 - Calcite with Boulangerite inclusions
$ 195.00 (=~ £ 157.47) SOLD
Herja Mine, Baia Mare, Romania
small cabinet - 6.6 x 4.5 x 3.7 cm

This fine specimen consists of 6 large spheres, and one small sphere of Calcite. The Calcites are tinted black due to the inclusion of Boulangerite. This piece is very bright and sparkly (often these have a dull luster).

All the mines in Romania are currently closed. They've had a bad history of environmental problems among others. Finding good examples like this one are becoming few and far between.

No Damage.

CALCITE3 - Calcite with Pyrite and Marcasite
$ 45.00 (=~ £ 36.34) SOLD
Conco mine, North Aurora, Kane Co., Illinois
thumbnail - 3.0 x 3.0 x 2.2 cm

Add Chicago to your list of Calcite localities! This calcite miniature is a fine example of a new find recently made. Apparently Conco, an aggregate mining company tunnels throughout the greater Chicagoland area. An enterprising geologist has managaed to gain access to the occasional pockets of Calcite they encounter. This piece comes from the first pocket of Scalenohedral calcites found in the area. Apparently there are Thalassinoides Burrows (ancient burrowing Shrimp), that created space for the calcites to later grow. It has internal "gold glitter," from the Marcasite and Pyrite included inside it. This piece consists of about 8 double terminated Calcites. It's in great shape, the touch of white along the largest crystal is internal, No apparent damage.

ADAMITE4 - Adamite var. Manganoan (purple) on Limonite
$ 125.00 (=~ £ 100.94) SOLD
Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico
thumbnail - 2.0 x 2.3 x 1.2 cm

When the water level dropped at the Ojuela Mine, in Mapimi, Mexico two years ago, Adamite was mined again for the first time in decades. I was lucky enough to find this piece amongst thousands, among recent production (I had to buy a whole flat just to get this one piece!). This Adamite is reminiscient of the famous purple Adamite find from 30 years ago. It is well formed and has unmistakable purple coloring. On the far right side there is a little "nipping," along the far edge. Overall this is a classic-looking specimen.

BABINGTONITE1 - Babingtonite on Prehnite with Quartz
$ 175.00 (=~ £ 141.32) SOLD
Hongxi, Meigu, Sichuan Province, China
small cabinet - 7.5 x 6.2 x 5.0 cm

This aesthetic piece has Babingtonite crystals up to 1.8 cms. They are pleasantly perched on lime green Prehnite, and on its back side there are clear Quartz crystals with spheres of green Prehnite.

The piece is in great shape, no visible damage on the babingtonites. It shows well, and you can tell how it was situated in the pocket, on three sides.

ATACAMITE1 - Atacamite
$ 60.00 (=~ £ 48.45) SOLD
Mount Gunson Mine, Andamooka Ranges, South Australia, Australia
small cabinet - 7.0 x 6.0 x 1.2 cm

This Atacamite specimen is much more sparkly than is pictured. I have not seen much of this material on the market, apparently it was mined long ago according to my Australian contact. It reminds me of Uvarovite garnets.
