This is a fine example of this uncommon form of Quartz. It is a four phase inclusion in a double terminated Quartz crystal found in central Pakistan 4 years ago. It is highly fluorescent under both short wave and long wave (both pictured). The long wave makes the petroleum fluoresce yellow, the short wave brings out the more reds and blues. (both are pictured above). There are two bubbles that move within the yellow petroleum. The gas bubble forms when the the Quartz cools after forming, the petroleum contracts more than the Quartz because it is less dense, it pulls a vacume within the fluid thus creating a "gas" bubble.  The four phases are: the gas bubble trapped in the petroleum, the petroleum itself, a darker brown previously organic material, and black carbon inclusions. I learned this from an insightful geologist who specializes in Quartz inclusions, whom I met at the Tucson Main show.

This cute example of spinel crystals on matrix has a cluster of red crystals that measure 1.2 cms long. They have a cherry red color that makes for a pleasing contrast with the white marble.

AMBLYGONITE1 - Amblygonite with Smoky Quartz and Feldspar

Amblygonite is a rare phosphate mineral found occasionally in Brazil. I got this piece as part of the Hawthorneden stock, because Frank had bought several pockets of Amblygonites over the years. Of all the pieces that we got, this was the only one on matrix. For what it is, this is a really unique, hard to find specimen. The Amblygonite crystal is growing up in between two smoky quartz crystals. It's in great condition.

QUARTZ11 - Quartz "Faden"

I recently got this as part of a collection from the man who originally "found," this deposit in Pakistan about 11 years ago. He had a nice stash of unique pieces. This crystal group is really unusual because it exhibits both the tabular form right alongside a conventional prismatic Quartz crystal. The white center "line" down the center of the tabular crystal is called a Faden (in German this means "thread") it is the central line of growth that the crystal grows outward from. this piece sits nicely by itself and has unique character.
