Larimar aka Blue Pectolite, is similar to petrified wood. It is only found in the Dominican Republic, and shares its distinctive color with the Caribean ocean. This piece is huge! It weighs 636 grams (1 pound 6 oz+). It's over 9 inches long, so imagine an adolescent Sasquatch shape. A Larimar slab this size is rare to find on the market as the nodules don't typically get this large, and a slab of this quality is not easily found on the market as many cabs could be cut from it, and made into jewelry. I like it as a specimen, since the color of this quality is so distinctive and attractive. The slab is thicker than normal, but you can still see about 30% of light through it when backlit. It is also polished on both sides, which is a nice touch (most slabs are not polished).
